Catching up

Oops, just logged in and realised my last post was in Oct last year from Belgium. Oh well, i've been falling severely behind in my updates. I got really lazy about having to leap past the firewall just to access this blog, the pix don't load properly, and plus i didn't have much inspiration to write.

There's been some exciting things going on from a personal perspective, most significantly that beau and I are expecting a baby (!!). We kinda suspected when we were away in Qingdao for a trip back in November and it was an agonizing 4 day wait before we could get back to Beijing to pee on the pregnancy test kit to confirm, and voila, positive! Then we tried very very hard to keep it under wraps from our family until we went past the 12 week mark, just to be safe.

The first ultrasound @ week 12 at the hospital was quite emotional, especially since we could see the little foetus moving and sucking its thumb. That was when it hit home that we were going to be parents and take responsibility for this little squirmy thingy on the screen for the next 18years - yikes! Such a grown-up thing to do! Before the checkup, i didn't have many outward symptoms at all, to the point i doubted the test kit and tried it another couple of times, just to be sure.

I'm thankful for not having had any severe pregnancy symptoms, and the 2nd trimester passed fairly quickly while I tried to stay active (lots of yoga, swimming, going out to meet friends), and keep a genial mood.

Fast forward to May 29, i'm now at week 36 and back in SG waiting to pop, basically. I'm approaching the "birth-day" with some trepidation, but i'm trying not to think about it! The pregnancy so far has been smooth, even though you go through really strange emotions and feelings at times. Fun, but wierd!
